The World is Changing...

As most would already have heard by now, Senator Barack Obama won the votes needed for him to become the USA's next president. The first African-American to do so in the history of the world. The World is Changing...

I openly admit that I supported Obama, and so, naturally I was entranced as I watched the number of votes increase exponentially as the Democrats flipped no less than 5 states. 5 states that were pro-Republicans during the early pollings of the population. When the announcement was made that the number of votes for Obama had passed the required amounts, and he was to be President-Elect 2008, I got goosebumps. I saw history, and for my part in sitting infront of the television, I was part of history. We all were.

At one stage, I was naive and couldn't care less for what McCain and the Republicans had to say. Though, now, I do appreciate and respect McCain and his views, as we should all respect each others opinions and values. It is, I believe, the best way to move forward as a people of this wonderful planet called Earth. Not the easiest, but I think in the long term, the best.

As an afterthought, an interesting personal point passed through my mind. I thought that "even if I knew nothing of the politics involved during the Presidential Election, for some reason my instincts would've chosen Obama...just for a change. Only that, just for change..."

I was honestly disappointed during McCain's speech when boos sounded from the gathered masses. It was a poor display of good spirit, and I'm sure McCain would've thought so too. My respect for both McCain and Obama has increased as each was graceful in addressing each other in their respective speeches.

Yes they have different views and opinions, but the reason behind all those is for the same cause. The betterment of America as a people, nation and society, and in extent, the world.

The people have chosen who they wish to see in office. They've chosen because of their own reasons, whether it be just because they want change, whether they like Obama from his charisma, or whether they truly believe in his ideals. Nomatter what the reason, the decision has been reached. McCain was right, now that its past, its time to get back to work to making America a better nation, and what better way to do that than to support the President.

All of us who supported Obama hope that he can live up to his office, and wish him the very best. Whether or not things turn for the better or worse during his term, that is yet to be seen. Whatever happens, we would never have known before hand.

Personally I think both men have their own personal qualities needed to run the country. In the end it doesn't truly matter who won the election. Nomatter who's sitting at the top seat in the country, its up to the people of the nation to make a difference. One man can only do so much, but to have many as one, that's when man can move mountains.

To America, I wish her the very best. As a citizen of this earth, I hope more good things come out of the result of the election.

Either way, I'm interested to see what happens. Aren't you?
